My memory is not great. As such, I could only succeed at university by truly understanding the principles and intuition behind the subject matter. Especially since the cramming method did not work for me. As a side-effect, I can make intuitive explanations for what I've learnt, which potentially makes me a more effective tutor.

He was very thorough in his teaching and takes his tutoring seriously. Quintin could understand his explanations well. Practically, Quintin mentioned that the only thing he could suggest that he improve on, is to start each new concept on a new page when he explains.
