South African Bursaries Closing in January 2023 (Part One)

For learners who need a bursary or scholarship to fund their tertiary education, there is still time to apply for funding for the 2023 academic year! Any student who meets the bursary provider’s criteria is eligible to apply for a bursary. Most bursaries require students to prove that they are in financial need, they have a good academic record and they are hard-working. 

 

We have compiled a list of South African bursaries that are still open for applications in January 2023 (with Part Two coming next week) as well as which subjects are covered and where to apply.! Please do not apply for these bursaries after the closing date because your application will not be considered.

Bombela Bursary

Closing: 18th January 2023

 

About the bursary provider:

 

The Bombela Operating Company (Pty) Ltd operates and maintains transportation systems, including the Gautrain, an integrated public transport system within the Gauteng province of South Africa. BOC is responsible for managing all key customer touch points throughout the Gautrain transport network, including stations, security control centres, Gautrain bus and minibus services, and Gautrain rail resources.

Ashinga Africa Initiative Leadership Programme

Closing: 20th January 2023

 

About the bursary provider:

Ashinga was formed by Yoshiomi Tamai, after losing his mother in a traffic accident. The company’s goal is to provide financial support and emotional care to youth from across the world, who have lost one or both parents. Since the organisation was formed, it has supported over 110 000 orphaned students to help them further their education. 

About the leadership programme:

Ashinga is inviting learners to apply for the Ashinga Africa Initiative Leadership Programme for the 2023 academic year. 

 

The Ashinga Africa Initiative is a scholarship for studying abroad, towards an undergraduate qualification in any field. The programme is aimed at students from Sub-Saharan African countries, who have lost one or both parents.

Master Builders Association Western Cape (MBAWC) Bursary South Africa 2023

About the bursary provider:

The Master Builders Association Western Cape (MBAWC) was founded in 1891 and is affiliated to Master Builders South Africa (MBSA). It is the oldest organisation of its kind within the country. The main aim of the association is to maintain the reputation of the building industry and ensure that investment into building is attracted to it. 

 

About the bursary programme:

The Master Builders Association Western Cape (MBAWC) is inviting learners to apply for their bursary programme for the 2023 academic year. 

 

Bursaries are awarded for studies within the Built Environment sector, specifically in these fields:

The Saaberie Chishty Youth Society is named after its founder, the Muslim Saint Hazraat Saabir Paak, whose tomb is situated at Kalyar Shareef Rurkie, Northern India. The Saaberie Chishty Society provides a multitude of services to the community and is committed to servicing humanity. 

 

About the bursary programme:

The Saaberie Chishty Society is inviting learners to apply for the Zakaat Bursary Programme for the 2023 academic year. 

 

Bursaries will be awarded for studies in any field, for students in financial need who qualify for the Zakaat Bursary Programme.

Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) Bursary 2023

Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) is a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) and bottler for The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC). Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa launched the Study Buddy Fund in 2021, which is committed to providing academically-deserving learners with access to further education and training.

Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) is inviting learners to apply for the Study Buddy Fund bursary programme for the 2023 academic year. 

 

Bursaries will be awarded for any field of study, preferably to students residing in communities in which CCBSA has operations.

The Association of South African Women in Science and Engineering (SAWISE) was formed with the aim of strengthening the role of females within the science and engineering faculty in South Africa. 

 

About the bursary programme:

The Association of South African Women in Science and Engineering (SAWISE) is inviting learners to apply for their bursary programme for the 2023 academic year. 

 

Bursaries will be awarded to black female students from Sub-Saharan Africa for studies towards any Science or Engineering Postgraduate qualification.

The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) is inviting learners to apply for their Art Scholarship for the 2023 academic year. 

 

Fully-funded scholarships will be awarded to Fine Arts students for studies towards the following qualifications:
