Bio

Hi, I'm Jason, a rising sophomore at Columbia doing computer engineering. As your tutor, I'm excited to work together with you to bring out your best academic potential, one step at a time!

As part of our school's honor society, I not only volunteered to help others in need but also tutored peers in various subjects. Every person is different, and I would end up tailoring my teaching style to how they learned best. I'd love to work together with you to find out what works best, and make it entertaining for the both of us!

Subjects

  • School Tutoring

Math

1st Grade - 12th Grade

Lots of experience with standardized testing in math (800 on math section of SAT, 5 in Calc AB and BC). Took more complex courses in high school and college. Also a lot of experience with tutoring others in math, and working through problems step by step to identify even the smallest of errors.

Physics

1st Grade - 12th Grade

As an aspiring computer engineer, I've taken physics multiple times, and am very familiar with the different standardized tests (AP, SAT II). I'm also happy to explain concepts in depth, from gravity to magnetism and everything in between.

AP US History

1st Grade - 12th Grade

Spent a lot of time learning about the nuances of AP US History, what essays will be on the test, different test taking strategies, and how to break up the curriculum into manageable chunks.

Writing

1st Grade - 12th Grade

Many years of experience writing essays, and different ways to approach them (how to trim down an essay, hitting the word limit, conveying deep analysis, how to structure them). Will help tailor your essay to what your teacher wants, and edit it to perfection.

SAT

1st Grade - 12th Grade

Experience with various SAT tutoring places. Spent a lot of time preparing specifically for the test and good test taking strategies, along with what to study and how to prepare for it.

SSAT

1st Grade - 12th Grade

Lots of experience with studying for the SSAT. Will work on math, vocab, and other sections to make sure you get the best score possible. Also will help with private school admissions in general (got into, but did not attend Trinity).

SHSAT

1st Grade - 12th Grade

Spent a lot of time preparing for the SHSAT. Will give tips on how to study, practice tests, what to look for, and things that tend to reoccur on the test. Will also give advice on being a specialized high school student (Stuyvesant student).
